How do I deal with racist relatives?

A couple of my relatives are very racist. I have told them off, and generally avoid them, but what do I do when it's a family event and I'm trapped with them and they start spouting off. I don't want to wreck a family event, but I feel that by just not saying anything I'm condoning their behavior.
