I still have questions about partitioning land in NM.?

I'm a land use lawyer in N.M. and have done partition actions. Briefly, the heirs have to pay a expert appraiser of the ranch--but I don't know if that's what you mean by "ranch expert." You can choose your own expert. You have a right to know everything about the estate accounts without exception. She can't use your brand. Report that to the State Livestock Board (they'd have hung her in the old days--that's rustling). You can charge her rent. A partition cannot be done by probate court. It could be done during probate if everyone agrees. The personal property and inventory must also be divided. You can email me. I can probably talk with you and get more details or refer you to help in your area. I'm in ranch country, have ranching clients, but practice primarily in the mid- Rio Grande valley area of New Mexico. BTW-someone answered about valuable mineral rights, which is also correct. Are there water rights? They are selling for more than $20,000 an acre foot to the city of Rio Rancho.
