Do freshmen at university of reno need cars?

I am going to attend UNR (university of reno) during the fall of 2011 and I am wondering if i need a car there because if so I might as well buy one now since i need one to go to work and for summer. Thank you. Also, if you have addition information like parking fees etc please feel free say so.
